Spring 2 (6/23/23)
A Message from the Principal
Dear WHS Families,
As another school year comes to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and yours all of the very best for a fun and relaxing Summer. May it also be a safe and healthy one. I also want to express my gratitude for making the ‘22-'23 school year productive and ultimately successful.
Thinking back to the first days of school, we aimed to put the experiences of the previous 2-3 years in the rearview mirror. We didn’t want to forget them, rather, we wanted to bring peace to the past so that we could move forward. We wanted this year to be about utilizing our best efforts and energy to intentionally focus on the possibilities on the road ahead. As such, the theme 'Realizing the 4 Rs' was born that guided our work to restore, refresh, reframe, and reclaim. Of course, there is improvement to be made in these areas of our school structure and climate. We succeeded, too, in getting back to a more stable and true set of routines. We must reflect on the accomplishments of the year that got us back on the path to progress. I am proud of the manner in which we transitioned to better places–I hope you are as well.
In mentioning transitions, I would like to note a few staff changes for the upcoming year. We are incredibly grateful for each person’s contributions to WHS and are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.
Thank you to the following staff members:
- Ed Belbin, Social Studies (retiring)
- Julie Kelland, School Nurse (retiring)
- Li Xie, World Language
- Kathy Stoker, English
- Johanna DiCarlo, Athletic Director
New staff members joining WHS next year are:
- Xi Li, World Language
- Levi Hanson, Interim Athletic Director
- Joey Teevens, Social Studies
Next year will bring even more positive opportunities for the WHS to grow, develop, and reclaim the best of who we are and what we do.
On behalf of the entire faculty, staff, and administration, we are grateful for your continued support. Have a truly wonderful Summer. We look forward to seeing you in August. To those of you who are leaving us for new places, we wish you all the best!
Sincerely,
Mr. Brian Callaghan
WHS Principal
