Message from Gwinnett Environmental Heritage Center
As a STEAM partner, your school is eligible to have teachers apply for the EHC’s Summer 2016 STEAM Immersion Program. This interactive experience, funded by the EHC Foundation, will take place in London, England from June 11 - 18, 2016. Teachers participating in the 2016 program will be immersed into numerous STEAM components connected to technology, engineering, math, and science as well as the various social studies topics involving the study of World War II. The program is a joint effort between the EHC and the Imperial War Museum (IWM) in London. Program topics include the technology developed during World War II that went on to have modern and everyday implications, the engineering skills needed and used for the Allied invasion of Normandy, a comparison of life on the wartime home front among the United States, Great Britain, and Germany, the development of code breaking machines, and much more.
The EHC Foundation will fund a team of up to 10 teachers from partner schools for this special opportunity to enhance STEAM learning and classroom connections. Participants will be expected to develop, implement, and present STEAM lesson(s) as a result of their learning to the local schools, the district, and/or the EHC.
All STEAM partner schools are encouraged to have one or more teachers whom they feel would be the best fit for the program complete and submit an online application prior to March 4, 2016.
