Communism in China
Mao Zedon
The father of communism in china and leader of the red army
Red book
The red book was put in Chinese schools to make young generations think communist
Red army
A league of students who were taught out of the red book of communism and were trained to be communist soldiers.
Long march
When Mao Zedong first wanted to make China communist,he was kicked out of China. He and his soldiers took a long march out of China. During the march, even though many soldiers died, he gained many followers, mainly the poor and women. Mao Zedong returned with his followers and what was left of his army to take control of China.
Great leap forward
After taking control of China, Mao Zedong saw that China would have to improve its industry to be a great power. He tried to do this by forcing farmers to work in industry. This meant that food was not being produced, causing famine all through out China
Cultural revolution
After the famine caused by the great leap forward, people started to see that Mao Zedong was not a good leader and that communism may not be the best. To counter act this, Mao Zedong hid all western (democratic) influence and forced communism to be the main subject in Chinese schools.
Why Containment of Communism Failed
Fear of the domino theory
The U.s. feared the spread of communism through out the globe. We then rushed in to contain it in the process many innocent people were killed and many operations ended with a large U.S. soldier death toll
Innocent deaths
During the containment, many innocent people were killed in wars. This turned the people away from democracy and toward communism. The people would help communist forces attack U.S. forces.
What is left
Today there are 5 communist countries. the problem is most of the world depends on resources from those countries. Also, U.S. soldiers are still in that area.
