PTHSD Technology Newsletter
Introduction- Tech Survey - Edmodocon Viewing Party & More
Introduction:
I am Elissa Malespina and I just recently became the Coordinating Supervisor of Educational Technology, Multi-Media and Media for the District. Periodically throughout the year I will be sending out a Smore Newsletter like this one to share important information with you. Please be on the look out for them.
A little about me:
Throughout my 15+ year career in education, I have had the opportunity to work in the classroom as a high school history teacher and as a special education teacher for students with severe emotional, mental and physical challenges. In the last 10 years I have been a Teacher Librarian at Highland Park High School, Columbia High School and most recently at South Orange Middle School in South Orange, NJ. My varied experience gives me a unique perspective toward working with students and teachers, drives my passion for infusing new technology into the curriculum and thinking outside the box to pique students’ interest and keep them engaged.
My passion is using Web 2.0 resources and tools like QR codes and Augmented Reality to make the school experience more interactive and engaging to students. I've had the opportunity to present and write about these tools and look forward to sharing all of this with you.
I have also been the recipient of the ISTE Making IT Happen Award, NJASL 2013 Progressive School Library Program of the Year, 2013 Edublog award for best use of Video and Media in Education. I am also a finalist in the School Librarian Category for the Bammy Awards that are given out on September 27th.

Technology I used to make this newsletter:
There are so many educational uses for these flyers - I have used them as newsletters and welcome letters for parents. I have had students make them for school projects. If using Smore is something you are interested in let me know and I will totally help you with any questions you may have or run a PD course on it. Below is a video tutorial about it.
