"The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities." Psalm 103: 8-10

National School Choice Week

School choice is about giving families the opportunity to select the best educational environment for their individual children. As we at Green Oaks School know well, education is not ‘one size fits all’. Every child is different and has unique talents, challenges and learning styles. While we certainly like our option best, we know it is not the right program for everyone.

Next week (January 24-30) we are participating in National School Choice Week. All across America there will be celebrations of effective education options.

At Green Oaks School and GOAL, we will host a “Lunch & Learn” on Monday for anyone who could benefit from having additional information about our programs (see “Lunch & Learn” in the next section). In addition, we will celebrate our school, staff and students in a variety of ways throughout the week.

We want to raise awareness about Green Oaks School, as well as the benefits of empowering parents with the opportunity to choose the best educational environments for their children. Since choosing a school for your child is an intensely personal experience, we want to hear from you. Please send an email to telling us why you choose Green Oaks School and GOAL for your student.

Lunch & Learn

Do you know someone who could benefit from having information about GOS and GOAL? We are hosting our third Lunch & Learn on Monday, January 25 from 11:30-12:30. Please call the office if you would like information to share. This is not geared to our current families, rather we hope you will invite others.

Gator Gala

This year's event will be held on February 27 at Cacharel Restaurant. Our theme will be "On the Red Carpet" and will celebrate our wonderful students. Mark your calendar now for this fun event! We will have limited seating this year so you'll want to get your reservation in early. Invitations were sent last week.

Auction Items Needed

We ask each of our families to contribute an item for our auction. This can be something you get donated from an area restaurant or business, so you don't need to spend a penny. We especially need larger items for our Live Auction and bottles of wine for our Wine Pull. Call Jean if you have ideas, suggestions, or contact names for donations.

Green Team

If you have any unused pots for plants, Green Team would love to have them. The Green Team has been busy planting seeds and re-potting seedlings in the green houses. They planted donated iris and lily bulbs in front of Green Oaks. If you find yourself thinning your flower beds this spring, the Green Team would enjoy caring for your extra plants.

Interested in Housing Options?

We will be forming a housing co-operative for Green Oaks/Arlington through Project Independence. In order to join, you must attend a presentation by CPSH (like the one held here on November 8). We will be offering two presentations on January 27, 2016. The first will be at 2:30 p.m. and the second at 6:30 p.m. If you are interested in attending one of these, please let Jean know at
