Goal 2
The girls learned the five steps of the writing process:
Plan, Draft, Revise, Edit and Publish
Drafting is, perhaps, the most difficult and time-consuming part of the writing process, especially for young writers. The idea of coming up with ideas, synthesizing them, and physically recording them on paper is challenging. We will offer individual help taking care to instruct and encourage great work!
Look for their published work on the boards in our 2nd primary hallway !
We became members of the Superkids Book Club!
Your second grader is growing as a reader and we are excited to open up a whole new world of authentic literature that includes folktales, fantasy stories, historical, and realistic fiction. The Book Club books help to ensure your daughter's comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency. In Frog and Toad Together, we learned about the power of friendship. The second book, Nate the Great, entertained us with the dry seriousness Nate brings to his detective work.
Mad Minutes are going well
Your daughter has a page to do for homework each night. This same page is given in class the next day. The nightly practice will with your daughters’ automaticity of the facts. At home you can count coins and practice telling time.
