Important Reminders About Attendance and Student's Morning Arrival Proceedures
Students may arrive to school no earlier than 8:30am to wait in front of the building for the first bell. Please note, staff is not on duty to supervise students dropped off early. If you are in need of care prior to 8:30am, you will need to make other child care arrangements for before school care.
All students and parents must enter the building through the main doors in the front of the building. During the school day, all doors will remain locked with the exception of the door into the Clear Creek office.
Any student not in class by 8:50am will be considered tardy. Please walk your student into the building if arriving after 8:50am to sign them in and get them a pass to class.
Students who will be absent from school must be called in by 9am each day they are absent. Students not called in by 9am will be considered unexcused.
Please call the office no later than 3pm to change your child’s go home arrangements. We are not able to change arrangements without a parent’s verbal or written consent prior to 3pm. If your student attends JCPRD, you will also need to notify them by phone or email with absences or changes in go home arrangements.
These policies are in place to ensure the safety of your child and we truly appreciate your assistance!

Dear Parent(s) of Kindergarten and 1st grade students:
On November 23rd, 2015, the kindergarten and first grade classes will welcome a special visitor to our school, “Happy Bear.” Happy Bear is the main character in an entertaining, interactive 25-minute play. During the performance, students will teach Happy Bear about a very important type of safety—personal safety.
P.S. Happy Bear is part of the P.S. It’s My Body! Program from Sunflower House, a child abuse prevention center that serves Wyandotte and Johnson Counties. Sunflower House has performed the P.S. Happy Bear play for more than twenty years in area elementary schools and preschools. A trained Sunflower House staff member will present the program, which will discuss recognizing welcome and unwelcome touches, recognizing “private parts,” using resistance skills (say “No,” move away), and identifying trusted adults to tell about inappropriate touches. The play incorporates humor and audience participation to allow children to teach Happy Bear about personal safety.
Statistics tell us that approximately one in four girls and one in six boys will be the victim of sexual abuse before their 18th birthday, and that one-third of sexual abuse victims are age six or younger. Research demonstrates that by teaching children about personal safety, they are more likely to tell an adult about an inappropriate touch. Happy Bear will discuss these important messages with your student in a fun, informative format.
By talking with our kids about these important safety issues, we will create a safer community for all children. If you have further questions about our Happy Bear program please refer to the Parent Meeting Online portion of the Sunflower House website at, www.sunflowerhouse.org. There you will be able to view a recording of the Happy Bear play and will have the opportunity to read supporting documents. Please fill out the permission slip when it comes home in your child’s backpacks so that your child will be able to participate in this event. Please contact me if you have any more questions, 422-8700.
Sincerely,
Lori Schierts

Health Information Regarding Lice
Dear parents,
Please read the attached letter from our Coordinator of Health Services for USD 232. While we do have cases of head lice periodically throughout the school year, there is a rise in cases within Clear Creek and our district as a whole. Ongoing precautionary measures are being addressed within the building and will continue throughout the year, as needed. We encourage all families to take any necessary precautions at home in order to decrease the number of cases as well.
Thank you for your ongoing support,
Carrie Handy

Sign Up To Be Part Of The Winter Wonderland Vendor Fair
Last year, families from Clear Creek Elementary enjoyed a wonderful variety of vendors who participated in the third annual Holiday Mart during our Winter Wonderland! We would like to again extend the opportunity to anyone interested in being part of this community event.
This year's Winter Wonderland and vendor fair will be held on Saturday, November 7, from 8:00 a.m. to 11 a.m. Cost is again $25 for a space, with $5 extra for a table, and $5 for electricity access. Please see the attached registration form for more details. Vendor Application
Priority will be given to CCE families, and we will do our best not to duplicate vendors.
Registration is due by Oct. 15.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! Also, if you know
others who might be interested in having a booth, please feel free to pass
this along. While first priority is given to CCE families, there are many
great items not represented within our CCE family. We hope you can join us
for the 4th annual Holiday Mart on Nov. 7!
