Gypsy Moths/Lymantria Dispar

Physical Description

Male and female gypsy moths are different from each other.Male are light brown with clear brown wings that have black bands on them. Female are mostly white and also have dark bands on their wings.


Gypsy moths can be found throughout southern Canada, across the eastern and central United States, and most of the western states.Gypsy moth is an insect native to Europe and Asia that has been severely weakening trees across North America.

Method Of Transporsation

The gypsy moth was brought to North America from France by Mr. E. Leopold Truelove. By 1981 they were all over Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
