Ask Me About...
Here are just a few of the things you can ask your kindergartner about from this past week:
We had a wonderful time on the farm this week! From tractor rides to ice cream, the students enjoyed all aspects of Merrymead Farm. Thank you to all of our chaperones who came along with us! The students received their picture to color from the farm. Be sure to have them color them in and head back to Merrymead for a free ice cream cone!
We got together with our 6th grade buddies to brainstorm some activities we hope to participate in during the summer months. Swimming definitely was the most popular!
The class continued to "show what they know" on end of the year assessments. From graphing to solving addition and subtraction number stories, the kindergartners are showing that they are ready for 1st grade!
During library, Mrs. Robinson read Farm by Angela Leeper and EIEIO: How Old MacDonald Got His Farm by Judy Sierra and compared their call numbers. They talked about how nonfiction call numbers have numbers and fiction call numbers have only letters. The class also learned that nonfiction books are in numerical order (compared to fiction being in alphabetical order by the author’s last name). This past week was the last week for checking out books. Thank you for returning all library books next week so that they can inventory for the summer!
- We will enjoy our first of many lunches in the cafeteria on Thursday. Please send in your child's order and money in a sealed envelope if you have not already done so.
- We will talk about Memorial Day and why we celebrate it.
- We will begin our social studies unit on transportation.
- We will have Field Day on Friday.
Our wonderful physical education teacher, Mr. Durie, has planned a fun-filled day of outdoor activities for the entire school on Friday, June 3rd. On Field Day, Kutz divides into two teams, the blue team and the gray team. It is a day of fun competition for all, offering us the opportunity to show our sportsmanship! Please make sure your child comes to school with a large bottle of water, wearing sunscreen, and either a gray or a blue shirt depending on their team assignment (see the list below).
Thank you for talking to your kindergartner about demonstrating good sportsmanship and supporting Field Day!
