A chill in the air…
Please remember to send your child to school each day prepared for recess. We will go outside every day for recess unless the temperatures/wind chill are extremely cold. That means your child needs a coat, hat, scarf, gloves on really cold days just in case. If your child needs to stay indoors for health reasons, please let me know so that other arrangements can be made for them during recess.
Writers Workshop
Dear Parents.
We are working on our fifth writing unit on Informational or “All
About” books.
During this month we will be making books and practice writing about things they knew a lot about.
We will continue our study in telling our message through pictures and
through words.
We will study works of other authors and illustrators who wrote informational texts.
We will learned how writers organize their work in a way that makes sense.
We will also looked at some of the text features that are seen in informational books.
We will continued our work on stretching out unknown words and new strategies to help us figure out multi-syllable words, as well as, writing our word wall words.
Enjoy your little author’s hard work! And remember...
We learn to write by writing!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Abrams

Wylie ISD 2017-18 Calendar Release
If you have not seen the updated calendar for next year, it is posted on the district website. There is a survey that you can give feedback regarding changes you would like to see.
For the most part, it is similar to this year's. Some changes that have occurred include:
- School will start August 21, the third Monday of August, opposed to the fourth Monday. The district applied for a waiver to do this.
- Christmas Break starts on a Thursday and ends on a Tuesday, making the break for staff 13 days, opposed to the typical 16 days.
- They added a teacher work day following Christmas Break.
- Spring Break is now aligned with Dallas County and Collin County community colleges. So it is now the 2nd week of March.
Keep those box Tops coming. we are in a competition to see which class can bring in the most
