Safety Reminders
Many of our daily procedures will stay the same this year; such as signing in and out of the front office with proper ID each time you visit the campus. However, there are a few changes that we want to let you know about before school begins on Aug 16th:
- All students will be required to wear ID’s while on campus, these will be provided by the school and kept at school daily. Please do not take the ID's home. Each child will be issued 3 ID's for the year, once they lose 3 we will need to charge a $5 fee for any additional if needed.
- We will no longer utilize PikMyKid for dismissal management. Please utilize the Car Tag provided to every child at Meet and Greet with your child's name and grade. This Car Tag will help assist staff to load students in the car loop. The parking lot only has limited spaces for cars to park and walk up to get your child. We are asking that once the parking lot spaces are full, please join the car line.
- New this year, we will have all walkers and car riders in K-2 students dismiss through the front gates of the school. All 3-5 graders who are walkers or car riders will dismiss through the west side of the school by the Music Room.
- Between the hours of 8:15 -1:30 p.m. expect the perimeter gates including the car loop and parking lots to be locked. If they are temporarily unlocked they will be monitored by a staff member. If you need to gain access to the campus and the gates are locked, please plan to arrive on the hour or half hour, that is when we will have staff to open the car loop gates. The car loop gates will be open and monitored during after school child care hours.
- We will be reviewing and participating in a variety of safety drills throughout the year; including monthly lockdown drills and fire drills.
- We communicate for a variety of reasons throughout the year especially if there is an emergency. Please make sure your phone number is up to date to receive these notifications from the school and that you do not block emails or text messages from the Parentlink System.

Mrs. Higgins, will be moving into the Media Specialist position for the upcoming school year. We are looking forward to great year filled with new experiences and learning!
Class Placements are tentative. Public schools in the state of Florida must comply with the state’s Class Size Reduction (CSR) amendment. CSR limits the number of students that can be in a core subject area classroom or course. There are significant financial penalties for school districts that do not comply with these requirements.
The District will conduct a student enrollment count, ERE could be among the schools that have to change some student’s teachers up to a month into the school year, in order to comply with CSR and maintain appropriate staffing levels all class placements are tentative. For this reason, we do not take teacher requests or requests to be with friends.

Secure the Next Generation Referendum
Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is presenting voters with a referendum renewal that will appear on the August 23, 2022, primary election ballot.
The new Secure the Next Generation Referendum would increase voters’ investment in education from a half-mill to one mill to continue securing funds for all public schools – and will now also include charter schools – to:
- Recruit and retain high-quality teachers and eligible staff by increasing compensation supplements
- Maintain and enhance school resource officers and school safety staff
- Maintain and enhance essential programs, such as mental health services
Why does BCPS need to renew the referendum and increase to 1 mill?
The funds from the ½ mill referendum that voters approved in 2018 are set to expire. Those funds support over 500 school safety personnel, 100 mental health professionals, and approximately $82 million in salary supplements for teachers and eligible staff, to compete with neighboring school districts.
On April 26, 2022, the School Board approved to, once again, present this referendum on the August 23, 2022, primary election ballot, with an increase to one mill, for voters to consider investing in Broward County Public Schools.
This renewal would provide BCPS with the ability to compete with neighboring school districts (Miami Dade County Public Schools, presenting an increase from the current .75 mill to one mill, and the School District of Palm Beach County Public Schools is currently at one mill), and to account for new legislation that now requires the District to share nearly 20% of these funds with charter schools.
