Eating Disorder (Bulimia Nervosa)
Who Does It Impact?
Bulimia nervosa affects between 1% and 4% of women in Canada.
- Young people
- Family members
- People with other mental disorders
- People with certain ways of coping or thinking about themselves
- People who diet
- People from certain cultures or careers
While you eat, you might feel like you can’t control how much you eat. You also might feel good while you are eating. When you’re finished eating, however, you might be scared that you’ll gain weight. Accordingly, you might try to purge the food. People living with bulimia may feel like they are much bigger than they really are or feel like they would be a better person if they were thin.
