State Assessments
Parents/Guardians,
State assessments will be happening from March 30-April 24 in Ellicott School District 22. Students will not be testing each day. Schools will communicate their particular testing schedules in the coming days.
Ellicott School District 22 encourages full participation of every student in assessments. Assessments are used at all levels to monitor student progress, address developmental gaps/concerns, and improve instruction. Standardized test scores are also frequently used to determine placement in advanced courses/programs and to identify specific instructional needs of students.

Get Your Kids Ready for Success
There are many basic things that families can do to support testing that have been proven to positively increase test scores:
- Minimum of 8 hours of sleep - Enforce a consistent bedtime, especially the night before an assessment.
- Eat breakfast - Have your student eat a breakfast rich in protein and carbs, low in sugar either at home or at school.
- Get them to school on time - Rushing the morning of an assessment adds stress to a student's day.
- BE POSITIVE! - Wish them luck and let them know you're proud of them.
Testing Requirements
State law dictates when assessments are given and to whom.
