This Week

We are continuing in our study of pets this week. This week kindergarten will be reading "I Wanna Iguana." Then they will be writing a persuasive piece based on the books premise. We apologize in advance for all of the kiddos who will be trying to persuade you to buy them a pet this week.

Our kiddos will begin participating in passions groups this month through the end of the school year. The passions group will take place on Friday afternoons. The kiddos will be rotating around to different classrooms in the k-2 area only. They will be participating in many different activities. Passions will take the place of show and tell.

Operation Help Columbus Pets

We are working with the kiddos to come up with a plan to help the foster dogs with C.A.R.E. Also, on the 25th the Kitty Litter Box Organization will be coming and talking to the kiddos about how they can also help cats in Columbus. It is exciting to watch the kiddos get really excited about helping pets in our community. Talk to your kiddo about how his/her ideas. They have some really great ideas.

Some of the ideas shared:

  • Make posters and put them everywhere so everyone will know how to take care of pets
  • We can all empty our piggy banks and give the money away (we told them we are not going to do that, but it is so sweet)
  • Sell popcorn and buy dog food
  • Make dog treats to give to the dogs

Cinderella Ball

The Cinderella Ball was a great success! The kiddos had a blast and they looked super cute in their costumes! Thank you to all of the parents who were able to come out and help make the event a success!

Memory Words of the Week

To help our kiddos learn memory words we have added this section to the newsletter. Each week we will put two memory words for your kiddo to practice at home. The memory words featured in this section will also be the memory words we are practicing in class. We will also do our best to give you ideas in which you can practice the words at home. Please feel free to mark the memory word practice from this section on your child's Homework Menu. If your child is has mastered the memory words of the week feel free to pick a different word off of the BCSC memory word list. Ideas for Practice:

  • Have your child spell a word by arranging small objects to form the letters of the word.
  • Put the memory words on your kiddos favorite snack. Each time they want to have the snack they need to read the memory words to "unlock" the snack.
