Volunteer Training dates added
Attention NEW to Cottage Lake families,
At Cottage Lake, we hold Volunteer Trainings for all adults working at our school. These are similar to the district volunteer video/training, but specific to Cottage Lake. I ask that each adult who volunteers at Cottage Lake to participate in the training once while I am the Principal. During this training, I will note specifics about supporting students at Cottage Lake and volunteering in general. Parents do not need to sign-up or register for a training. Each training will run approximately 30 minutes in length.
The Volunteer Trainings that have been scheduled so far this school year are:
- December 4 @ 11:30 AM
- December 13 @ 2:00 PM
Parents do not need to attend multiple trainings; you need to attend one if you are new to Cottage Lake.

•• Activities Update ••
Cross Country season update
Coach Darling shares the following season update from Cross Country:
The X-Country season has concluded and our athletes did an amazing job. From the district results, our 3rd grade boys took 2nd place and our 4th grade girls took 3rd place at the final meet. As one of the smallest schools in the district, this is a great accomplishment. Thank you again to all the athletes for their hard work! Go Sailors!
Northshore Youth Choir
On Saturday, November 18, Cottage Lake had 10 Sailors who participated in the Northshore Youth Choir performance with the Cascade Youth Symphony Orchestra at Benaroya Hall in Seattle. The performance was incredible! Get Involved
We are 100% dependent on family volunteers. If we want to be able to keep hosting fun events and supporting our classrooms, we need your help!
PTA hosted events and sponsored school services that don't have volunteers step up to run them will have to be cancelled. We've seen our volunteer numbers drop steeply in the last few years. Come help us build our community and have some fun while you're at it! Whether you can spare an hour to help setup an event, pass out popcorn, or would like to step into a board position, everyone is welcome and appreciated.
Do you like to meet people and help throw fun events? Our biggest need at the moment is a VP of Fundraising. Curious? Reach out to president@cottagelakepta.org for more information.

Superintendent Engagement Sessions for Families
Dear Northshore families, secondary students, and staff:
The budget development process for the 2024-25 school year is underway, and you are invited to learn more and provide feedback. Like many other Washington school districts, Northshore is anticipating another budget deficit for the 2024-25 school year. As of October 30, the current expected shortfall for Northshore is $26 million.
Superintendent Tolley and the Northshore School Board are committed to transparency as we work through next year’s budget development process and potential solutions.
Northshore has started the budgeting process early this year in order to engage our community. More than 30 internal and external budget meetings have been held since September. Thank you to the many individuals that attended the public 2024-25 budget development meeting on Nov. 14, at Woodinville High School.
There are two additional upcoming public opportunities to learn about the budget development process. Deputy Superintendent and Chief Financial Officer, JoLynn Berge, will be presenting at both events. No RSVP is required.
Superintendent General Engagement Meeting: Thursday, November 30, 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. via Zoom (https://nsd.zoom.us/j/84544964679)
Conversations with the Board: Tuesday, December 5, 6-7:30 p.m., Northshore Admin Center (3330 Monte Villa Parkway, Bothell). This is one of four annual opportunities to engage in a two-way conversation with the Northshore Board of Directors. The Board of Directors have dedicated this session to budget development, in order to hear directly from our students, families, and staff.
During both meetings, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the budget shortfall, ask questions, and provide feedback. Participants are encouraged to watch the Nov. 13 Board Study Session presentation in advance.
We hope to see you there.
