Should college athletes be paid?
Green goodness
If you watched the video you should know that college athletes get a lot of money, which brings up an interesting point, should college athletes be paid? If you pay them then they'll never focus on school and possibly drop out. But if you don't pay them they might not have the motivation to get to the nfl level. Heres the opinion of the no side.
Here's some results from a survey I conducted, and the majority said that they should get a scholarship and nothing more. (In case you're wondering, the other is it depends. How much they get paid)
The Yes Side
So on this hand
You have the yes side. The fact that NCAA (national collegiate athletic association) athletes should be paid. Certain Colleges already are paying their athletes already, but why not the others? Here's an article that might answer that question for you.
So that's why. The ACC, Big ten Big 12, SEC and Pac 12 conferences make their own rules now and all of them said "we want to pay our athletes". as you can see from the picture below, the coaches get paid a fortune an athletes get paid, 0$, zilch. now its time to go into no mode.
The No Side
on the other hand
You have the no side, the fact that college athletes shouldn't be paid. Many people believe that the scholarship is enough. The average scholarship for a public college is worth about $15,000 a year, that's enough to buy 50 trampolines!
As you can see, college athletes are paid way more than the average student, even more than kids with academic scholarships! Do smart kids deserve less than athletes? Or to make it more clear, is your body more important than your brain?
