Our Walled Lake and Dublin Purpose

Every Child, Every Day is our intentional commitment to creating a safe and inclusive culture and community where we:

  • Prioritize instruction
  • Foster meaningful relationships
  • Value and empower each learner
  • Create growth opportunities for all

The purpose of Dublin Elementary School is to develop academic and social LEADERS who are lifelong LEARNERS.

Upcoming Important Dates...

April 28 - Groundbreaking Ceremony, 2:00 PM

April 29 - NOT a 1/2 Day (was previously a 1/2 Day on old district calendars)

Spring Cleaning - Book Give Back

The support of our families is always appreciated, especially as we work to collect books that belong to our school. Beginning last March and throughout the pandemic, we have sent many books home with our students. We are noticing that many books have not found their way back to our school. If you might be doing some spring cleaning in the coming days and weeks, please take a moment to look for any books that belong to the school. We appreciate your help as we want to ensure these resources are available to all children.

Groundbreaking Event

On April 28 at 2:00 PM, we will host a groundbreaking ceremony for our new school building. Our community is invited to watch it on a livestream of the event on Facebook. It will also be recorded to watch at a later time. I will share those links with you when they become available.

M-STEP

3rd-5th Grade families should have received an email from me this week regarding M-STEP. This email includes our M-STEP schedule.

Our in-person learners will be tested beginning the week of April 19. We will begin with our fifth grade learners, followed by 3rd and 4th grades in May.

During our M-STEP testing, we will not have extra Chromebooks available here at Dublin as we will need to use all of them for testing. Please be sure that your child brings his or her device to school each day.

Our Path and My Path students will be receiving a separate communication on what M-STEP testing will look like for those learners.

Math Course Skipping Testing Opportunity

Please see this letter from our district math and science coordinator, John Gregg, for information regarding course skipping tests for students in grades 2-7 that may be qualified to skip math courses. To avoid student frustration, thoughtful consideration should come before registering students for above grade-level Math testing. High-levels of success in the current Math course, while important, is not the primary indicator of students successful with Math course-skipping tests.

Registration for a test date is open from April 5 - 29. Online registration is available through this Google Form.

Covid Symptoms

Covid is now presenting more like a cold or allergies which is challenging as it is allergy season. Please continue to monitor your children carefully for the symptoms listed below. If they are presenting one symptom from the top section or two or more symptoms from the bottom section, they need to remain at home and be tested. Please continue to update us about anyone living in your child's household that has tested positive for Covid or if your child has come into contact with anyone that has tested positive for Covid.

  • Please pull all the way forward and do not stop in the middle or end of our drop off lane. Students should use our sidewalk to walk to their doorway.
  • Students must exit their cars from the passenger side along the sidewalk for safety purposes.
  • Students must enter at their designated entry points each morning when being dropped off by car. (See map below)
  • Students must walk directly to their classroom wearing their mask.
  • Parents must stay in their cars.
  • If you are dropping off your child late, you must park your car and walk your child up to the office to sign him or her in. Please do not send your child in unattended. Thank you!

Student Drop-Off Arrival Map

Big picture

For efficiency and safety, please enter the car rider line with the flow of traffic. Please do not make a left turn into the car rider line during arrival and dismissal as this disrupts the flow of traffic and often causes a back-up on Farnsworth. Thank you for your cooperation.

Shamrock Pick Up and Dismissal Reminders

As we have always had, Dublin will have a TIERED dismissal for the safety of all of our students at the end of the day. Our dismissal process is comprised of four tiers.

  • Shamrock Pick Up
  • Walkers
  • Prime Time Care
  • Buses

We discourage any parent pick ups in our office at the end of the day unless there is an emergency or early release needed for an appointment.

If you need to pick up your child from school for any reason at the end of the day, this must be done before 3:30 PM.

After 3:30 PM, students MUST use one of the tiers of dismissal above.

We cannot have parents congregating in our main office at the end of the day.

  • Parents who pick up their children before 3:30 PM must buzz in at our main office.
  • Our secretaries will let the parent come in to our secure vestibule where there is a sign out book.
  • Parents must sign out their child there.
  • Secretaries will check ID.
  • Your child will be called down to meet you there.

Students will not be called out of class after 3:30 PM. This is a disruption to our dismissal process.

  • Parents must wear masks to pick up their children and must social distance in the vestibule or outside of our main office doors.

1. Our Shamrock Pick Up Students will be dismissed from their classrooms starting at 3:30 PM. We use a special application called BEELINE to notify students in their classrooms. Students will walk down to the gym and will be dismissed from there.

**PARENTS MUST HAVE A DUBLIN CAR RIDER SIGN IN THEIR CAR in order for your child to be dismissed to you. If you do not have one, you will be asked to park and go to our main office to get one. This is imperative for the safety of your child.

2. Our Walker Students will be dismissed at approximately 3:45 PM. Our Crossing Guards will be instructed to meet students at the West and East Walker door entrances to assist students walking home. The West Walker Door Entrance is at our playground doors in the back of the building. Our East Walker Door Entrance is the Media Center doors in the front of the building. Parents may not gather at either of these entrances to walk with students. Parents should wait until our students have crossed Farnsworth or Union Lake Road to meet their children. Our crossing guards will assist our walking students.

3. Prime Time Care Students will be dismissed at 3:50 PM. These students will go directly to the cafeteria from their classrooms.

4. We will begin to dismiss our Bus Rider students at approximately 3:55 PM. We will call buses one at a time. Students will remain in classrooms until their bus is called. Teachers will supervise students in classrooms.

Every teaching and learning moment is crucial and we appreciate your partnership to ensure good attendance and participation.

We recognize that there will be a learning curve during these first few weeks and we promise to be flexible and understanding as we all become comfortable with the digital platforms of Google and Zoom.
