Friday, September 11, 2020- Regular School Day
This is a regular school day for ALL students in Alvin ISD. It will be an "A" day and students are expected to login and complete assignments. Teachers will be providing LIVE instruction.
Students who do NOT have internet or personal computers will report to campus to complete lesson with teachers face to face.
Our custodians will continue to deep clean on campus. Administration will make any necessary adjustments (after phase in) to procedures to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Freedom Week
Texas law (Tex. Education Code §29.907 & §Tex. Admin. Code 74.33) requires Texas public schools, grades 3-12, to acknowledge Celebrate Freedom week (week of September 17th) and conduct appropriate instruction concerning the intent, meaning, and importance of the Declaration of Independence, the United States Constitution, the abolitionist movement and women’s suffrage. The Social Studies department will be engaging students in activities to promote Celebrate Freedom week.

8th Grade Phase In Calendar (September 9- 10, 2020)

All 8th grade face to face students will be welcomed back to Harby JH beginning September 9, 2020 on a "B" day schedule (1, 3, 5, 7 periods). The campus doors open at 8:00AM.Students will report to their 1st period class. Rosters will be posted at the entry of both main and side doors of the building. If students choose to get breakfast, they will need to pick up their breakfast items in the cafeteria and take them to eat in their 1st period class. Students will be provided printed schedules with room numbers in first period to assist them the rest of the day.

Lunch ID Updates
Each student will be given a lunch card which includes their name, student ID, and a bar code to scan as they purchase breakfast or lunch items. It is the student's responsibility to keep their lunch card to use daily. (See picture below)
As a reminder, no food will be dropped off at Alvin ISD schools. Please ensure students have lunch money in accounts if necessary. (See link below)
Restroom and Hand Washing Procedures
Bathrooms & Handwashing:
Teachers will have hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies in each classroom.
Bathrooms will be limited to 4 students at a time.
Students will be allowed to use the restroom during transitions, lunch, and during class with permission from the teacher.
Only one student is allowed to be released to the restroom at a time from each class.
Students must maintain social distancing while waiting to enter the restroom. There will be dots on the floor for students to stand.
In addition to the above procedures, students will also take restroom breaks and wash hands in all of the following classes:
Science class
PE/Athletics, Kickstart, Dance
Art, Theater Arts, Band, Choir
Dismissal Procedures
Dismissal:
Bike riders and walkers will be released at 4:00 pm out the side exit doors.
Car riders will be released by grade level.
All 6th grade students and siblings will be called for release at 4:04 pm and will exit out the side doors.
All 7th grade students and siblings will be called for release at 4:07 pm and will exit out the side doors.
All remaining 8th grade students will be called for release at 4:10 pm and will exit out the side doors. Please note that they will be the last to be released so you may want to wait a few minutes before coming to the school to wait in car rider lines.
Bus riders will remain in classes until their bus has been called. Once called they will exit out the front door maintaining social distance.
