RTI-2 FROM MEAGAN ALLRED
Teachers,
Our March Tier 2 meeting is Tuesday, March 19 during your planning period.
Prior to this meeting I ask that you reflect on these questions regarding your students/progress:
- Is my data updated? (No…update prior to meeting)
- Are my meeting notes up to date?
- Has the student met the goal? (If yes- Move to Tier 1) (If no- Does the intervention/strategy need to change or does the intervention need to be more focused? Move to Tier 3)
- How long has the student been on Tier 2? Ideally students should only be on Tier 2 for 6-8 weeks. I know most students have been on Tier 2 since October. This is okay because we have been learning and working through the RTI process together. However, think about what will be best for the student moving into the next school year.
It is OKAY to move students to Tier 3. Tier 3 doesn’t mean they are going to be tested for Special Education. It just means we will have a meeting with the parents to express concerns and as a team come up with a strategy/intervention and make goal.
If you have a student who has had a slow rate of progress or hasn’t met their goals, we need to schedule a Tier 3 prior to the end of the year.
Thank you all for your continued diligence in working towards what is best for your students’ success!
