We are a welcoming school and we want all people to feel safe and happy here

Being a welcoming student you show the school vision of ‘Caring for the people’

Vogeltown is one big ‘whanau’ and we welcome all people to our family

What an awesome night we had last night at our inaugural 'Whanau Fun Fiesta', and weren't we lucky with the weather! It was great to see so many families at the event and having a fun time! A huge thanks to the Vogeltown Home and School committee for the all the organisation they put in to make this such a successful event. Also huge thanks to our sponsors - Vogeltown Countdown who contributed almost all of the food stuffs, Turners and Growers for all of the beautiful fruit and Vege, Hellers Sausages who donated 720 sausages, Crest Clean who made all the dumplings on the night and donated their time and money and to our wonderful Vogeltown community who donated other goods - especially the sweets for the cake stall, outstanding! Without sponsors like this, we just could not provide such a neat event. Even though the idea of the evening was to 'come together' for the start of the year, we still managed to fundraise $4,500! Thank you one and all!

Thank you to all the parents/caregivers who came to the 'Yr 6 camp meeting' on Wednesday night. We like to keep all parents in the loop with the camp - how it is run, the organisation and the health and safety aspects. We are looking forward to this camp - only 1 and a half weeks away!

Looking forward to the whanau tryathlon and all syndicate tryathlons next week. There are separate notices that have come home about this today.

Satisfaction Survey T1 2019

Thanks to all those parents/caregivers who filled in a survey for us on the Fiesta night. If you have time, please could you fill in this google form. There are 16 questions, so it should not take any longer than 5 minutes to complete.

Once compiled, your answers will help provide feedback to the Board of Trustees and our staff about how the school is going with learning and teaching, culture and learning environments. It also asks your preference for the beginning of the year transitions.

Thanks in advance - see link below:

This year is election year for all schools to nominate and appoint new Board of Trustees members. We have some of our current BOT leaving us after this term and will not be seeking re-election. This leaves the way for any new members of our community who would like to be part of our Board Of Trustees to think about putting themselves up for election.

If you have never thought about being on the BOT, then now might be the time! It is a great position and an important one to help with the direction and governance decisions of the school.

If you might be keen, please contact Mike Miners, our current Chairperson who would be more than happy to chat with you. Mr Ogle is also available to have a chat.

There is also an NZSTA hui coming up about being on a school BOT if you want to know more - see the details below.

Mr George

New Vogeltown Football tops

A huge thanks to the Vogeltown Home and School and community for the new football tops! The money raised last year helped us to purchase these, and they look awesome! Now we can stop using the old yellow and blue tops from 10 years ago!

We will use these not only for football but for other sporting events as well - like Rippa Rugby in T2! Thanks again for all the fundraising efforts!

We are very lucky to have a school pool at Vogeltown. As part of our PE and Health curriculum, we expect the kids to swim everyday. The teaching staff were part of some professional development on Teacher only day about the swimming curriculum and it encourages water safety, water exploration and water confidence at this age.

Please make sure your child(ren) have their togs ready to go each day, with the weather the way it is currently, we will be making the most of the pool.

If you want to use the pool after school hours, please see the senior office for a key. All keys are $45 ($5 back one key returned at the end of the season). You will be required to sign an agreement with the school - please read the terms and conditions carefully - especially around sharing of keys, we have some families who share keys - if you sign for the key, then you are responsible for it!

1) We have heaps of events coming up over this term. Please keep the dates in the newsletter and on the calendar on our website handy. We will often message on facebook for quick updates and reminders.

2) We have a school app, which is great for quick access to the calendar, newsletter, digital permission forms and notices. Download the app on google play or from the apple store - look for 'Skool Loop' and select our school. (see advert below)
