Using daydreams as part of text structure Walter is portrayed as meek and timid.

First, the authors text structure shows Walter is very shy.

Mrs. Mitty is critical about everything Walter Mitty does. Walter Mitty listens to his wifes commands and does not talk back to her ever.

Secondly, the authors text structure shows that Walter takes criticism.

Walter Mitty was unable to get his chains off his tires and was smirked at by the garage man. A parking lot attendent made fun of Walter because he parked in the wrong lane. In both of these situations not once did Walter Mitty stick up for himself after being criticized.

Lastly, the authors text structure shows Walter has a great imagination.

Walter Mitty was a commander in a airplane giving orders to win the "dog fight". Walter Mitty lights a cigarette and is suddenly in front of the firing sqaud refusing the handkerchief.
