STEM Senior Portfolios due Fri, May 21
Senior portfolios must be completed by Fri, May 21 in order for you to participate in the STEM Virtual Graduation ceremony on Wed, May 26 at 12:25 pm. It is fine if your capstone project isn't quite done by then, but you must have an outline of your capstone plan in your portfolio by Fri, May 21.
The Senior Capstone night will be Wed, June 2 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, you will be receiving more details about that shortly.

Thank you for your work on these, your submissions so far look great! Please get them all to me by Fri, May 7 and I will get them ready to send to Japan.
STEM Lecture - Fri, May 7 - Pathology at UVMMC
Pathologists from the UVM Medical Center will discuss their careers and the work that is being done at the lab. This talk will be 45 minutes instead of the usual 30. We will start at 11:20 and go until 12:05. The Zoom link will be in Google Classroom.
Spring pictures in blue advisory on May 11
We will be doing a small phenology (the study of cyclic and seasonal natural phenomena) study during the month of May to share with Tottori Nishi High School. Students in the blue advisory will go outside and take pictures of seasonal phenomena in the schoolyard on Tues, May 11. Students in the gold advisory will follow up with pictures at the same spots on Fri, May 21. We will compile all of this information into a slide show to share with Japan.
STEM Lecture - Fri May 14 - COVID Vaccinations in Vermont
Stephyne Burke from UVMMC is the clinical leader of vaccinations at the Essex Fairgrounds Vaccination Site. She has a nursing background, she will discuss her job and the current status of vaccinations in Vermont.
Be a part of ECHO's E-Team in 2021-2022
ECHO’s E-Team is a program that gives opportunities to teens to engage visitors through science-related activities, hands-on crafts, and interpretation of exhibit areas. Each fall, we look for students with an interest in STEM to help staff these exhibits and run activities in various science fields geared towards our young audience. In addition to helping ECHO fulfill its mission, participants will gain valuable science content knowledge, job skills, a stipend of $1000 for the year, social interactions with new peers, and leadership experience. Natural Resources Management Academy - Sat, July 17
Are you a student entering 7th-12th grade in the Fall who is interested in the environment and ready to explore, in-depth, your passion for Vermont’s natural resources? If you answered yes to this question, then you should attend the Natural Resources Management Academy (NRMA). Come ready to explore natural resources management, and share a day with other youth from around Vermont who have the same interests. This program is held at the Green Mountain Conservation Camp, Buck Lake in Woodbury and it runs from 9 am to 7 pm. Click here to add your name to our list to be notified once registration opens!
UVM Extension Summer of Science
The folks at UVM Extension are working hard to offer a cool line-up of interesting science topics this summer! So far they have workshops on herpetology, microbiology, virology, plant science, rocketry, geology and more! These workshops will be held end of June - end of July; dates, locations and times are still be worked out. They will notify interested participants as soon as registration opens. Sign up to get on our Summer of Science notification list. For grades 7-12.
VTeen Science Exploration Talks
The UVM Extension is continuing their talk series. This year, they are virtual on Wed from 3:30 to 4:45. You need to register to get the Zoom link, the complete list of talks is here. These look like great events and they can count for a STEM lecture.
