Thank You PTO for our new book!
What We Are Learning!
We have had a busy week preparing for our play and practicing our lines. I have also been working on reading with each child individually to see how much each of them has grown. I love looking back at the reading running records from the fall and seeing how much each child has grown as a reader. 1st grade is absolutely the best!
Math:
We will start our last unit on math this week on two-digit addition. We have started with breaking down the numbers into tens and ones and then adding the ones together and then the tens together and then finally finding the total.
Science:
We started learning about healthy eating with the Royal Food Family and Little D, the dragon. To grow and be healthy, the first graders will learn that they need to eat foods from all five food groups: dairy, protein, vegetable, fruit, and grain.
Musical
We have been practicing our musical "Come Fly With Me.' The kids are starting to learn their lines and picked up the songs quickly. Please practice with your child at home. It will be such a great experience to present in front of an audience.
Our performance is May 31 from 9:00-10:00 in Pod C
All families are welcome to attend! Hopefully we will see a lot of you there!Cereal Box

Homework
Reading: Always read with your child and/or have your child read to you EVERY NIGHT. Book bags go home most days. Kids are expected to read the book in the bag and return it the next day. If you don't have an opportunity to read the book at night, please send the bag back anyway. Please keep the books in the book bag so everything is safe. Thanks!
