8th Grade Recognition
Hello Ramsey 8th grade students and families. As a reminder, this year's 8th Grade Recognition Ceremony will be virtual. In pre-pandemic times, our 8th graders were greeted with hundreds of smiling faces, roaring cheers and applause from an audience of family & friends, during our highly anticipated 8th grade recognition ceremony. While we are not able to host such a ceremony this year, we are doing our best to celebrate our departing 8th graders via our virtual ceremony.
In-Person students will view the presentation in their foundations class on Wednesday, June 9th at 11:05am. Afterwards, we will be distributing 8th grade certificates and sway bags with Ramsey t-shirts for autographing, Students are invited to take pictures outside with our celebratory lawn decorations in their honor. Virtual students are invited to swing by the school on Wednesday (June 9th) or Thursday (June 10th) between 9am-12noon to pick up their certificate, swag bag and t-shirt... as well as take pics in front of the signs, bid farewell classmates and to school staff, etc. As questions arise, please don't hesitate to reach out to the Counselors.
The Ramsey School Counseling Office would like to thank the 8th grade team of educators, our Admin team and the gracious Ramsey PTO for their contributions to Ramsey 8th grade community. Have a wonderful summer everyone!

On Thursday, June 3rd Ramsey Middle School held a community forum, view the forum below and click the button below to submit suggestions for the new name!
Reason For Name Change: Alexander Ramsey, for whom Ramsey Middle School has been named, held offices as a US senator, governor of Minnesota, and mayor of St. Paul from 1855–1875. He was the governor of Minnesota during the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862. During this time, he made statements calling for the killing or removal of the Mdewakanton and Wahpekute Dakota from the state of Minnesota. Students and staff do not believe an individual with such hate for a group of people deserves a middle school named in his honor.
Please connect with Ms. Ekegren if you have any questions. (Alicia.Ekegren@spps.org)
