The Next Five Years
As you may have heard, Francis Howell has begun the process of creating our next five-year strategic plan. This work will outline our course of action and identify the priorities of the District for the next five years. As a parent who has been active in the parent organization in your building, we want to know what you think about the future of our District. The community engagement meetings will allow our students, staff, parents, and larger community to provide input. I know you are busy and your time is valuable, but I am hopeful you will attend one of these evening events. If you are interested in seeing other specifics about the process, you can find them on the District website at http://www.fhsdschools.org/departments/communications/strategic_planning
Each day will be hosted by a different high school, and include three different meetings, one specifically designed for students, one for staff, and one for community members. Please plan to attend one of the community meetings; they are scheduled for the following dates:
Sept. 28 @ Francis Howell High School
7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Oct. 3 @ Francis Howell North
7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Oct. 4 @ Francis Howell Central
6:30 – 8:30 PM
Attendance Celebrations
- We have had 26 days of 96% attendance or higher.
- Fourth grade had the highest attendance percentage at 97% for the month of September.
- We had 318 students earn perfect attendance for the month of September.

Coffee Talk
For those of you who could not attend I have provided the link below to our School Improvement Plan. The plan can also be accessed on our building website. During coffee talk I shared the plan with parents. I also shared that the plan will be updated quarterly. Updates will be provided through the newsletter, on our website, and on a bulletin board in the building.

Bus Safety
If your child is reporting to you anything about the bus that goes against our behavior expectations please encourage him/her to tell an administrator or please contact one of the building administrators. We are working hard to ensure all students are following our bus expectations.
Resources
I often get asked by parents how they can help their child understand how to better follow behavior expectations.Below is a list of book titles put together by our school counselors that you should be able to easily find at any public library. The books can be used to help your child with understanding expected behaviors. Books are great way to spend some quality time with your child and to teach very important life lessons. After reading you can always refer back to the book characters to help your child remember what they are supposed to do in certain situations. Enjoy!
