Viera Elementary Happenings
April 3, 2023
Welcome to Viera Elementary
Our Kindergarten Orientation is set for Wednesday, April 5th from 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM. This event is open to all incoming Kindergarten families! If you have an incoming kindergartener for the 2023-2024 school year, or you know someone who does, come and join us for this fun night! Families will get the chance to tour the school and meet teachers and staff while learning all about VES. Families will engage in fun activities in each of the kindergarten classrooms and Activity rooms so they can get a glimpse of what it will be like when their child finally becomes a kindergartener. Kids who attend this event will also get some yummy pizza and treats while they practice what it is like to go through the lunch line at school. Lastly, kids and families will get to take photos in a fun photo booth and with our amazing mascot, Felix!
- You do not have to be zoned or registered at Viera Elementary to attend Kindergarten Orientation.
The ELO renewal window is now open. Please see important information below regarding renewing your child's ELO.
Please be sure students are at school by 8:00 AM. We really need students in their classrooms at 8:00 AM. Any students arriving after the 8:00 AM bell will need to have a parent escort them in to sign in at the front desk and get a tardy slip. Thank you for your help.
Thank you for your continuous support of Viera Elementary. Please reach out anytime you have a question or concern.

Root of the Week
Root of the Week: Word Superstars. Each week we will share a new root on the morning announcements. Students are encouraged to use words with this root. In fact, if teachers or staff catch a student using a word with the root, they can give them a ticket. They can fill out the ticket and put it in the box that will be in the cafeteria. At the end of the week we will draw five tickets out to recognize our Word Superstars. They will receive a special spirit tag that says “Word of the Week Superstar”.
This week’s root is “phob” -the Greek root meaning fear.

Lunch with your Student
Beginning, the week of September 6, parents will be able to eat lunch on campus with their child one day a week. This will be each Wednesday and spots will be limited, so parents must sign up in advance at https://signup.com/go/hefokio. Additionally, there are some guidelines which must be followed to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone on campus:
- · Parents must be on time for their child’s scheduled lunch time.
- · Parents must communicate with their child’s teacher that they will be coming to lunch on that day.
- · Parents must sign in at the front office and then will be escorted to the cafeteria to meet their child if they are not a registered volunteer.
- · There will be a designated table that the parent and student will sit at, this will not be with the class.
- · Parents may only have lunch with their child, no exceptions will be allowed.
- · While having lunch with your child, no cameras or phones taking pictures are permitted to protect the privacy of other students and families.
- · We strongly encourage younger siblings to stay home as we will have limited seating available.
- · Visitors/Volunteers are expected to dress appropriately when visiting campus.
- · Once your child’s lunch is over, they will promptly join their class to dismiss. Parents are not able to follow their child/the class back to the classroom and will sign out in the front office.
