General News! Week of April 3-7th
Welcome Back!
We hope Spring Break gave you all a chance to enjoy some down time with your families and the beautiful weather we had last week. As we begin these next few weeks, it is important that we are all making the best use of our time. It is important for everyone to be here on time each day, as all of our academic classes come before our connections classes. Students should try to get adequate rest each night, get some "fuel in their tanks" before classes begin, come with proper supplies, bring only healthy snacks and water to class, and be ready to apply the skills they have. If they can get in these positive habits now, testing weeks will be a breeze!
An additional EOG test preparation opportunity is being offered to some of our students: St. Marys Middle SATURDAY Academy will be offered on April 8th and 15th, from 9 am-12 noon. Selected students will be bringing home a BRIGHT YELLOW permission slip tomorrow. If your student is invited, please sign and return this form ASAP. Students who have not returned their permission slips by Thursday may lose their spot. We would like to see as many students be able to take advantage of this opportunity as possible, so if your child cannot attend, or is only available for one of the days, please let us know so we can adjust accordingly. We look forward to a great turnout!
If you have not already completed this Title I Parent Survey, please take a minute and complete by Tuesday, April 4th. A paper copy of this form will be coming home also either today or tomorrow. Thanks! Below is a link:

Social Studies- Mr. Salser
This week we are changing gears. We will focus on prepping for the EOG test. We will cover everything we have covered in the classroom this year and focus on any weak areas the classes come across as we prepare for the test. Parents/Guardians you can help your child work on each nights review, keeping you child well hydrated (especially students involved in athletic activities during this time), and making sure your child gets 7-9 hours of sleep each night. Educational/Medical studies agree that following these three steps can help your child to be better prepared for classroom testing and school work.
Language Arts- Ms. Waxman
This Week In Language Arts:
This week we will bring The Boy In The Striped Pajamas to its conclusion. At the same time we will be reinforcing the skill sets that will be tested on during our 3 days of the ELA EOG. We will take one practice test this week, and another next week. We will use these to help identify both our strengths and weaknesses, as well as hopefully prevent some careless mistakes if the near future. We will also be reading and responding to a variety of passages while working on strategies to help eliminate and determine the best responses in a multiple choice response situation.
Homework for this week will continue to be using "SPOTLIGHT on Paired Passages"...this is a green workbook. It is necessary that the students have this with them on a daily basis, and are completing only the pages they have been asked to complete. The work assigned each night will be the practice necessary to complete the portion that will be a graded assessment of the assignment.
