Important Information
Thank you to all the community for giving so generously to our PGE staff this week. It was absolutely amazing and we are so very grateful for the generosity of time, volunteers, donations and more.
May 9-17 is STAAR testing for our 3rd-5th graders. We will have NO visitors during this time period to make sure we have a secure and quiet testing environment.
Our Career Day is quickly approaching and we need your help. Please fill out this form. Pecan Grove Elementary Career Day is on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 from 8:15 - 10:30 am. Presenters will give 5 twenty-minute presentations in either 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade, or 5th grade classrooms. Students will rotate five times. Presenters are free to prepare a Powerpoint, visuals, or other media for the presentation. Typically, presenters can present their occupation then take questions from the students. Please fill out the form and Ms. Harris, School Counselor, will be touch with specific details.
STAAR Testing Information - Grades 3-5
STAAR Testing Schedule for May 2022
- May 10: 4th and 5th grade math (paper/pencil)
- May 11: 4th and 5th grade reading (paper/pencil)
- May 12: 5th grade science (paper/pencil)
- May 12: 3rd grade math (online test) for the following homerooms: Oliver, Householder, Tom
- May 13: 5th grade make-up testing-If student needs to complete a make up test, he/she will not attend the field trip.
- May 13: 3rd grade math (online test) for the following homerooms: Homa and Barahona
- May 16: 3rd grade reading (online test) for the following homerooms: Oliver, Householder, Tom
- May 17: 3rd grade reading (online test) for the following homerooms: Homa and Barahona
- May 18: make-up testing for 3rd grade
Here are some things you can do at home to ensure your child does well on his/her test:
· Be sure that your child gets a full night’s sleep and eats a good breakfast the day of the test.
· Please have your child to school ON TIME.
· Avoid pressure in the form of threats and rewards associated with test results and try not to make comparisons to the performance of siblings or peers.
· Express your confidence in your child’s ability to do well.

For more information regarding the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR), please visit the TEA website at the following web address: http://www.tea.state.tx.us/student.assessment. Important Reminders
- School Starts at 8:05am, Building Opens at 7:30am, Breakfast is from 7:30-8am
- School ends at 3:25pm
- No early checkouts after 2:45pm.
- Arrival- No left turn from Old South between 7:30-8:00am, No parking or drop-offs along Old South between the corner of Cougar Cub Way and the end of the bus ramp. No parents should be using the front circle drive for drop off unless you are dropping off one of our safety patrol students. Please be sure to use the car rider drop off entrance and exit.
- Do you pick up in the car rider line? Our last car is scanned around 3:42, if you are not in line by then you will need to head to the front office to pick up late students in the front office. Please bring your ID.
- Visitors will be allowed at lunches on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. We will limit two visitors per child. Students are not allowed to have friends with them at the visitor table and we are not allowed to let students share food
- We will continue the School Store during lunches on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month.
Rainy Day Dismissal Procedures
-Rainy Days will be called with heavy rain and/or thunder & lightening. I will notify on Class Dojo at 3pm or prior. The weather does change quickly so we do our best to make the best decision according to the information we have at the time.
-Please make sure your child's teacher knows how your child will be going home if/when a rainy-day dismissal is called. This plan should be consistent for any rainy day for the remainder of the year.
-The dismissal options are- car rider, walker (by the bike rack), gazebo walker, bus, day care or extended day
-If your child is a walker by the bike rack or a gazebo walker- an adult or older-sibling (HS) must be present to pick up your child
-We will not release students if there is there is heavy rain, lightning or thundering
-Your child can be picked up by the bike rack or gazebo (just make sure to communicate with your child's teacher)

- · FBISD extracurricular activities, Illness and medical appointments, Required court appearances, Religious holy days, Activities related to obtaining United States citizenship
Submitting an Excuse Note
- · Notes must be turned in no later than five days upon returning to school
- · A medical note or parent note can be scanned and/or emailed to the campus email attendancepge@fortbendisd.com or dewana.curran@fortbendisd.com
Excuse notes should always include:
- · Student’s full name
- · Student’s ID number
- · Today’s date
- · Date(s) of absence
- · Reason for absence
- · Parent contact information
**After 3 consecutive absences a physician's note is required**
