Notes from the Principal

Hello Orchard Parents,

I want to remind you how important it is to complete the RUVNA app every school day morning. We are experiencing an extensive amount of parents not answering the health questions. The RUVNA app needs to be completed every morning before your child comes to school. Our guidelines have us call each family that does not complete the app so the numbers are making us do double-time. Using the app each and every day will significantly help us - as well as help our families who may need our assistance with health questions. Thank you for your attention to this. Please check out the Nurses' Notes: Updated Illness Guidelines below for more information.

Don't forget - the Fun Run is coming! Check out the volunteer sign-up sheet as well as the PTO article below.

Our hearts go out to all of our families who are deeply affected by the 20th anniversary of September 11th. Have a good weekend and take some time to read with your child.

School Nurse Notes

Students should stay home if they are not feeling well. If COVID-19 symptoms arise while at school, those individuals will be sent home. Consider contacting your student's health care provider. Even when experiencing mild symptoms, a COVID PCR test may be needed (at a testing site or through the health care provider).

NEW ILLNESS GUIDELINES FOR STUDENTS
The State has provided schools with guidance for if your child gets sick and when to return to school. For any COVID-19 symptoms, please reference the Return to School Following Illness COVID-19 Information for Families.

What are the next steps if my student has symptoms while at home or develops symptoms while at school?

If your student has illness symptoms (even a runny nose!), please refer to the above guidelines regarding when your student should be tested for COVID-19 and when to return to school following an illness.

If a COVID-19 test is obtained:

  • It must be a PCR test.
  • Please have your student stay home, and avoid others while awaiting the COVID test results. Please also notify the school nurse, of the outcome of the test result, before your student returns to school.

Be well,

Kara Cassani, RN & Darcy Mazlish, RN

Update from our Lunch Program

Although complete meals of breakfast and lunch are free, milk is NOT free for students who need milk for their home lunch. The cost of milk is 50 cents per carton and parents/caregivers can send in a check, made out to South Burlington Nutritional Services, to credit their child's account or have money taken directly from an account to credit to your child's account.
