AP Spanish V Field Trip

On Thursday, October 11, twenty seven A&M Consolidated Spanish 5 AP Literature and Culture students visited Texas A&M for a tour of the Stark Galleries and the Forsyth Galleries. The Painting Borges: Art Interpreting Literature, and the Surrealist Visions exhibits were of great interest as Borges is on the Spanish 5 AP reading list. The art works were explained by Mr. Greg Phillipy, Stark Galleries Education Director and also one of the museum docents. Students viewed works by 16 artists from Argentina who interpreted 12 different stories by Jorge Luis Borges. The highlights of the Surrealist collection were a series of Alice in Wonderland woodcuts by Salvador Dalí, a large number of pieces by Joan Miró, Cezanne and a painting by the French artist Magritte. In the Forsyth Galleries, the Blue Dog paintings by Rodrigue were a great favorite along with spectacular art glass and American Impressionist artists.
