April 5th - It's happening!

We are so excited to welcome back all of our elementary students for in-person learning on Monday! We've been counting down the days and are ready to say good-bye to our hybrid model. Monday certainly has that first day of school feeling, we can't wait!

School Calendar Change for Friday, April 2 for Meetinghouse, Westminster and Briggs ONLY

On Friday, April 2, there will be no school for K-5. A staff Development Day has been added for the staff to be able to prepare for Monday's full start of our 5 day full time week.

Buses

Although some bus regulations have been lifted, we still need to assign stops and seats for kids. Children will only be able to ride their ASSIGNED bus. Unfortunately, students will NOT be able to change buses during the week to go to a friend's house.

Pick-up and Drop-off

Buckle up!

Please make sure your child is buckled up before moving your car in the pick/up line.

Notes:

Please send in a note on Monday if you still plan to pick-up your child at the end of the school day.

MHS:

If there is no more room in our parking lot, please line up on South Street facing towards Main Street and the Cracker Factory. If you are entering from Main Street, you will need to turn around at the Wellington to get into the car line. Otherwise, traffic would back-up downtown and the buses will be blocked from entering the school grounds.

WES:

Cars should line up from the top of Academy Hill.

Getting Back to a Regular Routine

From our School Adjustment Counselor - Mrs. Pinkes

Now that we are going to be in school five days a week, we are concerned about how tired our students will be. This is a big transition and we would like to remind you about helping your child get to bed early and consistently each night.

Sleep is critical for our growing children's bodies and minds.....we are seeing many tired children at school during their in-person days. Keeping the same bedtime schedule during the school week will help keep routines consistent. We are also hearing from a lot of children about staying on their devices at night (after they are believed to be in bed) watching Netflix, You Tube videos, etc. We would like to recommend that any and all devices are kept outside of your children's bedrooms so there is not temptation for them to use them. There are also ways to shut off your WiFi for specific time frames, etc.

Report Cards

Report cards went home this week for all elementary students. While many students continue to make gains, others have struggled with remote and hybrid learning. As hard as we work, we cannot replace the value of in-person learning. We are grateful to have our students back in our buildings for 5 full days of learning next week. When you read your child's report card, please do not hit the panic button. Although we have much work ahead of us, we are committed to helping your child succeed in all areas of school.

From the WES art room:

The WES Art Room is looking for donations of Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal boxes. The students will be creating creatures using the box as the head. (The current boxes in the stores have a face on the back which will be perfect for the creature's face!) I would like to collect them now, so they have time to sit "untouched", due to Covid. This will be an "end-of-the-year" project. Thanks!
