Red Ribbon Week
California began celebrating Red Ribbon Week in 1985, which became a national celebration in 1988. Red Ribbon Week was started in the memory of DEA Agent Enrique Camarena "KiKi" after he was killed in Mexico while working as an undercover drug agent. His family and friends wanted to continue KiKi's mission to raise awareness to parents and kids of the killing and destruction caused by drugs in America. At Northwest, we celebrate the sacrifice KiKi made and the right to make healthy choices for our futures by staying drug and alcohol-free. We will have dress-up days to show our support for Red Ribbon Week.
