Safety and Security
I am sure that you were rocked emotionally last week regarding the tragedy in Florida. My heart is with Douglas High School, their students, and their families. As a school, it is our charge to be sure that we are providing the safest environment possible for our school family. We will be reviewing our existing safety procedures over the next few weeks with several teams within our school. If you are interested in serving on our school safety committee, please contact me.
On Monday, I will be speaking to all students briefly about school safety procedures, communicating concerns to adults, and treating others with kindness. This is an effort to be proactive and not reactive. If parents contact you regarding this, please assure them that the conversation will not stray into controversial topics and direct concerns my way.
Being vigilant, communicating concerns, and following our safety protocols are very important. I appreciate all that you do on a daily basis to contribute to our school safety.
Shadow
Shadow a Student
The Micro Elementary SIT Team has endorsed the idea of team members shadowing a student. During the week of March 5th-9th, SIT members will be assigned a random student to shadow at another grade level than they teach. This will provide us great perspective of our student’s school experience. To be clear, peers will be in the classrooms to shadow students and see school from their “lens”. It is not an observation of the teacher at all. The SIT team will then reflect and share upon the process at the March SIT meeting.
