Celebrating Spring!

This week is Spring Spirit Week! Student Council has planned an awesome week to kick off the month of April and boost morale leading into spring recess. The 3rd quarter comes to close on Friday, April 8th. May and June are jam packed with events and fun activities for all grade levels. Final Exams begin the week of June 10th. Students should begin preparing for these exams by studying a little bit each night. Teachers are always available during their office hours to support students. There is still time to complete the district's Strategic Planning survey, it only takes a few minutes. The survey will close out on April 8, 2022. Environmental Club Earth Month Challenge

The RMS Environmental Club needs your help in participating in the USagain Earth Month Contest. From April 1 through May 1 students, parents, faculty and community are encouraged to drop off gently used clothing and other textiles to our collection bin. At the end of the contest (May 1, 2022), the three schools which collect the most textiles and clothing per student will be ranked and awarded cash prizes. All the proceeds from this contest will benefit the Environmental Club and be used towards our school garden! Watch the video below to learn more about the contest from our students! Last year, the club came in 4th place out of all the schools in the nation! This year, they have their eye on #1!! Only items placed in OUR bin (not high school) count towards our contest efforts.

March Teacher Lesson of the Month

March's "Lesson of the Month" is awarded to Mr. Castaldi for his lesson on "Government and the Presidency." Each month, students nominate a lesson that was engaging and interesting for them to participate in. They give feedback of what they liked the best and what motivated them. Mr. Castaldi's student said, "I liked how it made me want to be president one day and we played a game called 'win the white house' and that was really fun. He is so engaging and asks the funniest questions. He used Barack Obama in an example and he is my favorite president. Mr. Castaldi is my favorite teacher because he has so much energy and never has a bad day."

Joe Pimentel Mural Painting

Local artist, Joe Pimentel will be back at RMS to begin our 4th mural the week of April 18th! 8th graders will have the opportunity to paint a section of the mural in small groups. Students should check their school emails and sign up on the google form if interested. A schedule will be created and they will be assigned a designated time to come and paint with Joe!

8th Grade End of Year Events

All of our end of year planning for 8th grade events is still in the works. In lieu of the Washington, DC trip, we are looking at different options to take the 8th graders on 2 separate day trips. More information about these trips will be coming as we finalize the details. In the meantime, please save the date for the 8th Grade Semi-Formal Dance and the 8th Grade Moving Up Ceremony.

Moving Up Dance: Friday, June 10th
