Capture the moment!
With Jerry Markham from Canada
Painting is about catching a moment in time....
Painting is about catching a moment in time, especially plein air painting. In this workshop Jerry will offer demonstrations, exercises and instruction for creating a strong painting by applying elements such as dynamic compositions, a strong value scheme and driving depth through aerial perspective, as well as the use of edges and colour. We will also touch on the purpose of photographs and how they can be useful tools in the studio, and creative writing to solidify your impressions of what you want to say. These applications will free your creativity in the ways you observe nature, capture it on your canvas, and it will give you a unique way of painting the scene.
This workshop offers group instruction and lots of individual attention, and is suitable for beginners and intermediate painters who paint with oil, acrylic or watercolor mediums.
8 days/ 7 nights commencing September 7th to 14th. 2014. Sunday to Sunday.
About the Artist
Though best known for his impressionistic landscapes, Jerry also paints contemporary urban scenes, people, wildlife, and anything that captures his interest.
Jerry feels the best way to create paintings with passion and feeling is through experiencing the outdoors and subjects from life - paint in the snow, get caught in the rain, and feel the surroundings. The result will bear a unique sense of not only the place but of the artist's experience.
A full-time painter for over 10 years, Jerry strives to live life well and to grow in his journey of discovery, knowledge and finding his voice as an artist. He currently lives in British Columbia, Canada with his wife Leah. They enjoy traveling and being outdoors.
Jerry's work has been featured in Southwest Art, Western Art Collector, Western Art & Architecture, International Artist, and Canadian Brushstroke Magazine, seen recognition through awards and can be found in galleries in North America. For more details see the link below.
