  • Most teachers had posted lesson objectives & DOL's
  • Most teachers had word walls with evidence of student interaction with vocabulary terms(i.e. vocabulary journals/graphic organizers)
  • Most teachers made attempts to design students centered lessons



Areas of Opportunity


  • STUDENT MANAGEMENT: Teachers should stand in the middle of the hallway and direct students to class during passing periods.
  • Teacher references & student dialogue about the lesson objective must increase
  • Teachers must design at least 1 activity in each lesson that is rigorous, supports mastery of the lesson objective, and allows students to conduct academic conversations among themselves
  • When posing questions to students implement response strategies to ensure all students understand the information presented/discussed
