School Is About To Start

Some parents may have heard, so I wanted to take a moment to mention some news. Mrs. Vicky Raymond our Assistant Principal was called upon to take on being the interim principal up at Quail Run this school year. We are so thankful for and proud of Mrs. Raymond for the work she has done here at Whispering Wind Academy over the past four years and want to wish her great success on her new adventure.


As of Tuesday July 26th Whispering Wind Academy is happy to welcome our new Assistant Principal, Mrs. Rebecca Rodriguez. We are excited to have her join our team to support the community and our learners.


The week of August 8th, students may arrive as early as 8:25 AM to get in line for class and/or breakfast. Starting August 15th students can arrive at 8:15 AM for morning recess and/or breakfast. Whispering Wind Academy is excited to offer morning recess again for students, to get opportunities for play and exercise. The first week of school will be an opportunity for students to learn where their play area will be for morning.


August 8th is WWA's Supply Drop Off and Meet the Teacher! If at all possible try to make that evening event for your child to meet their teachers. Supply Drop Off will take place for grades 1-6 and all self contained classrooms from 4:00-5:00 PM.


Starting August 9th, teachers will be back in our building preparing for an excellent year for all of our students. We look forward to serving the Whispering Wind Academy community and believe this will be the best year yet!

Below are some important dates for parents to know of and attend:

Kindergarten:


  • Kindergarten - Supply Drop Off will occur on August 9th at Kindergarten Orientation
  • Student & Parent Orientation - 9:00 am - 11:00 am; Parents drop kiddos off with teachers at 8:45 am & head to the WWA MPR
  • First Day of School - August 10th 8:45 am - 3:05 pm
  • Dismissal is at 3:05 pm daily for Kindergarten students
  • Beginning August 15th, Morning Recess starts at 8:15 am


Grades 1-6:


  • Supply Drop Off - August 8th 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
  • First Day of School - August 9th 8:45 am - 3:15 pm
  • Drop off the week of August 9th as early as 8:25 am
  • Beginning August 15th, Morning Recess starts at 8:15 am


Curriculum Night Grades 1 - 6 - August 23rd:


  • Grades 1 & 2, Bastida, Juric, Anderson, Gifted 4th: 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
  • Grades 3 & 4, Stewart, Fitzpatrick, Gifted 5/6: 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
  • Grades 5 & 6: 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm


All parents need to update your students' emergency card following the process described below!

Our wonderful parent representatives from the MPO & PTSO have graciously put together a sign up genius LINK to continue the tradition of providing breakfast for our staff on August 2nd, the first day back for our teachers. If you are able and willing to sign up and bring an item in, it would be greatly appreciated to welcome our teachers back for the start of a great year!

The online version of our Annual Update process is now available for the 2022-23 school year. The Annual Update allows you to make any updates to your contact information such as address changes, phone number changes, changes to a child’s health history, as well as update emergency contact information. This will replace the printed Emergency Card.

  • Please go to Portal.pvschools.net.

  • Select More and then Annual Update.

  • You may also click the Annual Update link on the

Announcement Page.

From Our Nutrition And Wellness Department!

The Nutrition & Wellness Department will return to charging students for their meals based on their free, reduced, and paid meal application status during the 2022-2023 SY. The 2022-2023 Free & Reduced Meal Application will be available starting Monday, July 11, 2022 for parents to complete. Online meal applications can be completed at EZMealApp.com; this paperless option is encouraged because online applications can be processed within 24 hours of their submission.
