THIS MONTH'S HIGHLIGHTS

Accelerated Reader

We have been working hard to make the transition from our old reading program, Reading Counts, to Accelerated Reader. This process not only involves learning a new program, but also relabeling all of our books.

Students should always check the Accelerated Reader Book Finder website for the book level and point information for the book they have chosen to read.

Keep in mind the requirements for each grade:

7th grade - at least 5 points

8th grade - at least a 5th grade reading level and at least 10 points

Join the PTMS Reads! Book Club

We will be reading the book Wonder by R.J. Palacio and discussing it on October 21st (B Day) and October 22nd (A Day) during study lab. After discussing the book we will be "Kind Bombing" the library! We have so many fun activities planned. Check this page for a lot more information. Join us!

Peters Township Public Library Card Drive

September is Library Card Sign Up Month and that was a great excuse for the Peters Township Middle School Library and the Peters Township Public Library to work together! On Friday, September 25th, during study lab in the PTMS Library, our students were given the opportunity to sign up for a Peters Township Public Library card. We had 28 students take advantage of this great opportunity! Not only did these students gain access to so many more amazing resources and a world of activities offered through the public library, but they also received some neat giveaways just for stopping down to sign up for a card. We hope to partner with the public library many more times throughout the year.

The Nonfiction Revolution

The article, The Nonfiction Revolution, explains the new push for nonfiction text. Be sure to check out the suggestions for sparking interest for nonfiction reading and writing at the end of the article.

The PTMS Library has a lot of great nonfiction books that have accompanying Accelerated Reader tests!
