High School CTE Family Consumer Science Teacher
DEPARTMENT: High School
UNION EXEMPT: No
REPORTS TO: High School Principal
WORK DAYS: Monday - Friday
SUMMARY
This position is a challenging and exciting opportunity for a highly skilled teacher to help high school students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible young men and women. This teacher is expected to advise FCCLA student leadership and incorporate those skills in the instruction. A stipend is provided for the extra student leadership time and travel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned.)
• Teach career and technical education (CTE) Family and Consumer Science in grades 9-12.
• Fiscal management of Family and Consumer Science budget.
• Work as a liaison with local agencies to provide a variety of services for youth.
• Teaches district-approved curriculum.
• Meets with and instructs students toward their individual needs and deficits.
• Prepares students for success on State and District required tests.
• Creates and maintains a classroom and building environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
• Encourages students to set and maintain high standards of classroom behavior.
• Assists in the development and maintains Individual Student Learning Plans for low functioning students.
• Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and communicates these objectives to students.
• Uses a variety of informative and summative classroom assessments to address student needs.
• Analyzes state assessment data (i.e. test specs and release items) as well as district NWEA data to build lessons to address student deficits.
• Provides on-going assessment of student skill levels and progress.
• Maintains thorough student files and records according to WAC and district requirements.
• Orders and secures necessary curriculum and supportive materials.
• Assists in developing a collaborative environment among staff and also students.
• Engages in staff development plans and models.
• Instruct advisory curriculum pertaining to 21st century standards and career planning.
• Recruit advisory board members that support the FCCS frameworks.
• Attend professional development opportunities/conferences.
• Attend a minimum of three advisory board meetings.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supervises classrooms, buildings, and students.
• Supervises after school activities and student leadership contests/conferences.
• Supervises instructional aides, volunteers, and other contracted instructors.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• Has experience, interest, knowledge and ability to teach in a wide range of subject areas
• Ability and experience in developing Individual Learning Plans
• Experience in using data and assessment results to drive instruction
• Experience working with youth who have unique learning styles and needs
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
• Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement (9-12) (Additional High School endorsements recommended) (Vocational Certification or the ability to get a Conditional/Emergency Certification with the intent to get a renewable Vocational Certification.)
• Washington State Driver’s License
• Current or Pending First Aid Card
