Most importantly, our Dragon athletes were exemplars of hard work, perseverance, and good sportsmanship. Because of the competitive graciousness of our student-athletes, together with our dedicated faculty and staff in the athletic department, our reputation and our friendships around the world continue to strengthen.

Thank you to Dr. Russ Robinson, international music expert, who joined KAS on October 17-18 to work with our music department towards an even stronger music program. It was an excellent experience for students and faculty, and we appreciate Dr. Robinson taking the time to come to KAS. Special thanks to the Office of Overseas School at the USA Department of State for financially supporting the visit.
Just a friendly reminder that family fun day is almost here. This is a special opportunity for you and your child to enjoy the beautiful facilities and spend quality time together. Games and activities will be organized and we invite all of our ES Parents and students to join us. This fall our family fun day will be on November 9, 2019 from 10:00 - 12:00. Please mark your calendars and we are looking forward to seeing you there.

We continue to take a proactive approach to keeping students healthy in a variety of air quality conditions. We monitor the local AQI throughout each day, and depending on the conditions we modify our instruction according to the attached KAS Air Quality Guidelines. You can read more about those guidelines below.

The IB Learner Profile

Throughout the world, IB schools work to instill the ten traits that the IB Organization has identified as critical for students to fulfill the IB mission: The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

Big picture

At KAS, students are often asked to reflect on these traits and their contribution to the creation of a good student and a good human. More information about these traits, as well as about the MYP and DP IB Programs, can be found at

November 1 deadline for early decision & early action has just passed with successful submission of documents on our new computer platform CIALFO. As with any electronic submissions, we always have to keep in mind that there may be challenges & glitches in the system, but for now, it all looks good!

Next Deadlines

For most US bound college students, the next big deadlines are Nov 30 for most State and UC school applications. University of California and Cal State schools strictly adhere to a Nov 30 deadline and will not accept any applications past that date.

Final (school) deadline for ALL US college applications is Dec 16. This will give the counselors a few days before the Christmas break to work with students who are rushing to submit documents at the last minute even though there should be no reason for last minute activities.

Please discuss this deadline with your children and see where they are with respect to completion. Please note: The college counselors will not be available over Christmas break on a regular basis so its best to make that deadline so families can have a peaceful Christmas break.

Hong Kong and Japanese Universities have their own individual deadlines so make sure to check with the college please.

College Visitors

Parents are always welcome to come and meet the college admissions visiting representatives. Here are a few more who are coming before the Christmas break:
