Demonstrate continuous residence in the United States for at least 5 years
Prove that you have been physically in the United States for 30 months out of the 5+ years of being a resident
You have to live in the United States for a least 30 mouths
You must be someone with good moral character
Demonstrate an attachment to the principles and ideas of the U.S. Constitution
Have the ability to read, write, and speak basic English
Have a basic understanding of U.S history and government
Take an oath of allegiance to the United States of America

Step 2. Look at the naturalization eligibility worksheet to see if you are eligible to apply for naturalization
Step 3. Prepare your form N-400, application for naturalization
Step 4. Submit your Form N-400, application for Naturalization
Step 5. Go to the biometrics appointment if applicable
Step 6. Complete the USICS interview
Step 7. Receive a decision from USCIS on your form N-400, application for naturalization
Step 8. Receive a notice to take the Oath of Allegience
Step 9. Take the oath of allegiance to the United States
