Goshen Center School

Regional School District No. 6

May 11, 2017

Dear Families and Community Members,

Here is a message from our PTO:

Dear GCS Families,

It has come to the PTO's attention that the Layer family is going through a very challenging time. David and Sammy's mom, Lajla Layer, has been diagnosed with leukemia and is undergoing treatment at the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale and will be there for at least a month and then months of treatment.

The PTO is spearheading a campaign to deliver dinners to the Layer family while she is in the hospital. We have decided to use TakeThemAMeal.com to coordinate this effort. Please click on the link below to view the calendar and sign up.

We appreciate your generosity as we gather together to help this Goshen family through a difficult time.

Thank you,

GCS PTO

National Nurse's Day

We thanked the person who takes care of all of us on a daily basis. National Nurse Appreciation Day was May 6th, and we showed our appreciation for our school nurse, Mrs. Terri Truczinskas. We presented her with handwritten notes on tongue depressors placed in a jar.

Summerfest - Camp for students in grades 2-8

Wamogo High School is pleased to announce that for the upcoming summer of 2017, we are running our very own summer program: Summerfest.

This is a 6 week long camp-style program that is 4 days a week (Monday - Thursday) from 9am - 2pm, and runs from June 26th - August 3rd. Sessions are split into 2 week increments and you may sign your child up for multiple sessions if you so choose. Summerfest is open to all Region 6 students of all ability levels in grades 2 - 8. The cost is $75 per week per child with transportation available from central locations for participants. July 5-7 is a shortened week and costs $50.

Summerfest features tons of fun, daily activities led by a team of peer leaders, which include: outdoor sports, classic camp games, arts and crafts, music and drama, water carnivals, cooking, gardening, STEM, dance, team building games, and much more.

BOX TOPS

Please continue to clip Box Tops off your favorite products! Ten cents doesn't sound like much but they add up fast and help the PTO provide Enrichment opportunities for GCS students. If possible, ask other family members, co-workers and neighbors to collect them as well. This is a quick reminder that at the end of each month the classroom that has collected the most Box Tops gets a prize. See the below attachment for a list of products that have Box Tops on their labels.

A big thank you to our BTFE coordinators, Heike Robillard and Chrissy Steward.

Thank you!
