Principals Message.
You can tell that we are getting close to the start of another great school year because it has been such an exciting week at CHS. I just wanted to take a moment to thank all the CHS students, staff, families, and community that came together to support so many CHS events this week.
- Thank you to everyone who supported the start of our Fall Sports season. We had one of the highest turnouts of student-athletes that we have had for the last several years. Thanks to all of you, we are off to an exciting start for CHS athletics. However, there are still a few spots left on different CHS teams. So if you are interested in a Fall Sport, contact our CHS Athlitic Director at daunte_gouge@csd28j.org.
I appreciated our CHS ASB/Student Council, who spent this week planning our upcoming events and activities to bring back more of our old and create new CHS traditions to continue growing our CHS School Spirit. They are working hard and are always interested in hearing your thoughts and ideas and would love your help. If you want to find out more, contact our Activities Director at jimmy_mei@csd28j.org.
We had an outstanding Fall Sports Parent Night with one of the highest turnouts in recent memory. It was great to see so many of our CHS parents and families supporting our student-athletes. A special thank you to the Hilinski's Hope Foundation. They are one of our newest community partners and will be helping support our CHS student-athletes with their social-emotional health this year. As a parent, I learned a lot during their Fall Sports Night presentation. We will also have Hilinski's Hope Foundation presentations at our Winter and Spring Sports Parent Night. You can check out www.hilinskishope.org; we will share more information throughout this school year. So, Thank you to everyone that made our Fall Sports Parent Night a huge success!
Thank you to our CHS Booster Club, who volunteered to prepare the CHS concession stands for this school year. We are excited that, along with the main CHS Concession Stand, we will be opening up the visitor Concession Stand during games for the first time in many years, helping to support our CHS student-athletes. All CHS Booster Club hard work is appreciated! They are always looking for volunteers and fundraising opportunities to support our CHS student-athletics. So if you would like to find out more information, please email centennialhs.boosterclub@gmail.com or see www.csd28j.org/Page/923. Their next meeting is Tuesday, September 20th - CHS Booster Club Meeting @ 6:30 PM
Talking about great turnouts. Thank you to everyone that supports our CHS Football Watermelon Bowl today. It was great to see our football team scrimmaging and getting ready for a great season; our CHS Cheer Team also rocked it, getting everyone excited in the stands. Seeing so many families and community members supporting our Cheer and Football team was also exciting. We had the largest turnout we have had in the last several years. It was great to feel our Eagle spirit coming alive; thanks to everyone being there!
Finally, it was outstanding to host the CHS class of 1971 and 1972, who held their class reunion and took tours of CHS today. It was great to hear their stories about CHS and feel their spirit. They embody our motto;
"Once an Eagle, Always an Eagle" at CHS

CHS Counselor's Corner:
CHS Care and Connection Week is the first week of school. We are at the start of another school year. For CHS students, families, and school staff, this may bring about feelings of excitement, opportunity, anticipation, uncertainty, and nervousness. That nervousness is normal.
The Oregon Department of Education is asking every school/school district to welcome its staff and students back with Care and Connection Week. This means devoting the first weeks of the school year to building relationships and community and creating welcoming spaces for everyone.
You can visit the ODE Mental Health and Well-Being - Care and Connection Resource Page for additional resources and information.
