W-FL BOCES School Library System

October 2018

Happy fall!

I hope everyone is off to a great school year.....it's hard to believe it's already October! The first SLS Council/Communications Coordinator meeting is October 16th. Please make sure you connect with your district's Communciations Coordinator to get more SLS updates! FYI, October is "Bullying Prevention Month"....there are lots of great SLS resources that can help students to treat eachother respectfully and promote socioemotional learning and development!

Library Girl's "Best Part of My Day"

Two years ago, the W-FL BOCES region was fortunate enough to have Jennifer LaGarde, or "Library Girl", deliver a keynote for W-FL BOCES administrators and librarians and a full day of professional learning about what it means to be a library champion!

Jennifer LaGarde presents a progressive, compassionate view of librarianship that is closely aligned with the Future Ready goals, the new AASL standards and a student-centered approach to teaching and learning. Take a moment to watch the video below to begin thinking about how you can make your library a place of possibility, too!
