Family Literacy & Developmental Preschool

Big picture

Dear Willson Families,

This has certainly been a year for the history books! Who would have thought back in August when we were taking all of those first day of preschool photos that our school year would have ended this way? We are certainly living through history that will be studied by countless people in the future.

Our preschool teachers are lovingly working on packing up students personal items that may have been left at school during the closure, as well as, creating some special surprises to mark the end of one journey and the beginning of another for our kindergarten bound students. Please be sure to drive-by Willson during one of our student item pick-up days to collect your preschooler's belongings.

On behalf of everyone at Willson, we want to thank our preschool parents, grandparents, and caregivers for sharing your precious children with us. They are indeed a joy, and we are so glad that we were able to get to know each one of them.

Have a wonderful last week of preschool everyone!

Marci Galinowski, Principal

All Crawfordsville School Buildings will return student belongings and collect school items beginning Tuesday, May 19th. See the table below for times and dates for your buildings. We have worked with the Montgomery County Health Department and followed guidance from the CDC and Indiana Department of Education for our item pick-up and drop-off process. We have considered the best way to minimize the risk of potential virus spread by having students/parents exchange items from their cars through designated parking lot areas.

  • Willson, Nicholson, CMS, and CHS* will use normal car drop off locations.

  • Hose will exchange items from the back parking lot.

  • Hoover will exchange items from the parking lot next to the gym.

  • Students will receive items from the classrooms or lockers and athletic lockers.

  • Nurses will contact parents about the return of student medications.

  • Seniors may purchase cap and gowns on Tuesday, May 19th from Jostens in the exchange process.

  • Please return textbooks and checked-out laptops and chargers.

  • Contact your building with any questions on the exchange process.

  • Anyone that has symptoms (fever, cough, etc.) or is quarantined for any reason associated with COVID-19 should contact the school administration to arrange a later time for item exchange.

  • Face coverings will be worn by all staff members

  • We ask that face coverings are worn by students/parents that are exchanging items.

Family Fun!

The Family Fun section of our digital newsletter will focus on a fun, family activity that reinforces the theme that we are working on in school. It will be a story, a song, or an outdoor activity that everyone can work on together.

Keep learning and having fun as a family this summer! Here's over 100 ideas to get going!

Progress reports for preschoolers who receive special education and have IIEPs will be emailed to parents at the end of May.

Because Willson Preschool does not give traditional letter grades on report cards, and to decrease the opportunity for the spread of COVID-19, we will not be collecting completed packet work from students. Please take pictures of your student's completed activities and share them with your student's teacher via Class DoJo messenger. You do not need to send photos of all activities, just the best one each day or each week. Teachers will continue to post daily lessons and videos on Class DoJo for students and provide guidance to parents who have questions about the activities.

Info for Kindergarten Roundups

All currently scheduled onsite Kindergarten Roundup events have been cancelled at this time. Preschoolers will still be allowed to register for kindergarten at their prospective schools. As registrations dates or rescheduled Roundup dates are made, we will provide that information to our preschool parents. For specific questions, please contact the school at which your child will attend kindergarten at directly.
