End of the Semester

It is hard to believe, but the end of the semester is quickly approaching! As always we encourage daily attendance for all students until Winter Break begins. There are many summative assessments, including NWEA, that will be given during the two weeks prior to break. Thank you in advance for assisting in continued focus during this valuable educational time period.

News from the Counselors

Updated HSE K-8 redistricting maps have been posted at http://www.hse.k12.in.us/ADM/news/redistricting.aspx. Again, your input is vital as we approach the final stages of the process. The following meetings are open to any member of the community seeking additional information on the HSE “Preferred Redistricting Plan”:

  • On Monday, December 8th at 7:00 P.M. at Fishers Junior High School the Board will have a Board Meeting/Work Session. This will be the Board’s opportunity to understand the details of the plan. This meeting is informational only with no public comment.

  • On Wednesday, December 10th at 7:00 P.M. at Fishers High School, Café “A” the Board will conduct a public hearing on the proposed redistricting plan. The public will be invited to make comments on the plan in accordance with the Board rules for making public comments.

  • On Monday, December 15th at 7:00 P.M. at Fishers Junior High School, the Board will be presented the final “Preferred Redistricting Plan” for vote.

Student Council Food Pantry Drive

Student Council is collecting items to benefit Fall Creek Township Food Pantry. They have plenty of CANNED goods. They recently have had a huge increase in their supply. They will still accept them, but they are in more need of the items listed below.

We will be collecting donated items from December 10-12. Please help our Student Council collect these non-perishables for those in need in our community. Thank you in advance for you donations to this worthy cause.

Box Top Collection Standings

The last day to turn in Box Tops for the fall semester is December 17th. One class from each grade will win a pizza party from the PTO for bringing in the most Box Tops.

PTO will also be rewarding the top 2 students that brought in the most box tops. Please remember that the students name and homeroom teachers name should be on the bag. Each time a student brings in 25 box tops they will get a coupon/certificate for a free treat! Continue to save box tops through the busy holidays, PTO rewards are the same in the spring!

The top 5 classrooms for each grade currently are as follows:

PTO is looking for Officers and Chair People for 2015-2016 Volunteers Needed!

Share your time and talents with FCI! We are planning for next year and are looking for some new faces to fill our positions. Help as little or as much as you feel comfortable. It is a great way to get involved in our school. Please contact Becky Gerig at beckygerig@hotmail.com or Georgia Rigdon at gigirigdon@gmail.com for questions. We still have two big events this year as well-look for news about the Falcon Fest and 6th Grade Year End Party.

Have a collection you would like to share?

FCI Collection Case

The Collection Case at FCI is a fun way for students, families, and staff to share their personal collections with everyone at FCI. The Collection Case, located in the main hallway between the Nurses's Office and the Cafeteria, is highly visible and students love to look at the case and see the collections that have been displayed. Any school-appropriate collection would be great for the Collection Case. Last year, some of the items/collections that students and families shared were: Legos, soccer jerseys from around the world, M&M wrappers from around the world, a large hornet's nest, memorabilia from foreign countries, rocks and minerals, Pokemon cards, and WWII-related items.

If you would like to share a collection with the students and staff at FCI, please fill out the attached Collection Case Form and return it to school marked "Attn: PTO Collection Case." Contact Charron Wright at gcwright91@aol.com with any questions about the Collection Case

Keeping Focused

In an effort to keep instructional time as free from distraction as possible, students have been reminded of the following:

  • Absolutely NO texting/personal emailing during the school day (7:45 a.m.-2:45 p.m.) to students OR parents via any type of program/app/etc. Consequences will be given should this occur.
  • If students receive texts/emails during the school day, they should immediately notify their teacher or staff member.
  • We realize there may need to be communication between students working collaboratively during the school day. However, it should only be done at teacher direction/approval.
  • Texting/emailing that does occur outside of school is a parental approval issue. However, if content of texting/emailing outside of school negatively impacts/affects the school environment, there may be consequences that are imposed at school.

As always, if you need to get a message that is a change for your child, please call the office at 915-4220. All other situations should be resolved outside the school day.
