Schumacher Library Think Tank
End of Year 2014
We are a Digital Citizenship Certified School!
We are so excited to announce that Schumacher is the first school in Missouri to receive certification from Common Sense Media as a Digital Citizenship school. This means that our students and teachers have been trained in using media safely, responsibly, and appropriately to meet our needs.

Schumacher Awarded Blue Ribbon!
We are also excited to announce that Schumacher's Library was recently recognized as the Blue Ribbon Library Media Program for the Greater Kansas City region! This award, from the Greater Kansas City Association of School Librarians recognizes one outstanding library media program each year. We are so proud to have won this honor and we are looking forward to many great years to come!
59 National Parks Blogging Connection
Check out the egret in this picture! Our blogging partners Don and Shelly Hafner from 59nationalparks.com sent this picture from St. Augustine, Florida. 4th grade students in Ms. Hedges class were able to Facetime with the Hafners in April from Everglades National Park. We even saw a live crocodile! Be sure to follow their blog or Twitter account for more fun trip pictures over the summer. @59NationalParks
Summer Library BINGO!
Within the next few weeks we will begin sending home Summer Library BINGO cards! Remember that the summer is a time when many students lose some of the reading progress they have made during the school year. It is important for all students (even our kids above grade level) to keep reading ALL summer long!
To help encourage summer reading, put the Summer Library Bingo card on your fridge and keep track of the great books you read! Students who return completed Bingo cards in August will celebrate with a party in the fall. Make sure your student has the opportunity to attend.
End of Year Reminders
Remember - All library books and materials are due back to the library by Friday, May 16. Any lost or damaged materials will need to be paid for before the end of the year. Students with missing materials or fines will NOT receive their progress reports on the last day of school.
Students participating in summer school at Schumacher will have the opportunity to check out during the summer.
