School Engagement and Partnerships Welcomes Debbie Phelps

The Pikesville Schools Coalition, overseen by the Director of School and Community Engagement, will host its annual community meeting on June 5, 2019, from 7-8:30pm at Pikesville High School. The keynote speaker is Debbie Phelps, a long-time principal for BCPS, and Executive Director of the Education Foundation. Ms. Phelps will speak about the foundation, the benefits of working together with the community to improve education, and what it means to collaborate with an organization like the Coalition. The Coalition is very excited to have Ms. Phelps speak.

This event is free and open to the public--anyone with an interest in Pikesville public schools is encouraged to attend.

Weinberg Senior Living Development and Management on Point

Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) has approved $110,000 grant for FY20-21 Northwest Senior Shuttle Operations. This is a 47% increase from what they granted for FY18-19, mainly to enable us to fully use the 2 new shuttle buses that they awarded us last year. We continue to partner with Action In Maturity(AIM) to provide more transportation to seniors in the Park Heights-Pikesville communities.

Partners & Lenders approved a new Management Agreement for Manor South that allows CHAI to share in the management fee revenue with Edgewood Management. We estimate this will earn $20,000 additional revenue to CHAI in FY20.

In April, we awarded new laundry contracts at Weinberg Place, Manor East, Manhattan Park, Weinberg Villages I & II. This means residents are getting new washers & dryers to use. Charges are increasing to $1.50 per load from $1.25 that was charged for the past 7 years. The buildings get a share of that revenue which helps pay for Resident Services.
