Board of Education Visits LMES
On Tuesday of this week, members of the Region 15 Board of Education stopped by LMES for a visit. They dropped into classrooms as well as the Library Media Center. They got to sit in on a Morning Meeting, a reading lesson that integrated Critical Thinking, a Digital Citizenship lesson, Number Corner activities and a Bridges math lesson. It was a pleasure to host them and we loved showing off all the great learning we are doing here at LMES!
Science Comes Alive!
On Tuesday, the entire fifth grade was given a special treat, an in-school field trip entitled Making Waves. This highly engaging program was presented by High Touch High Tech of Connecticut and was made possible through the generosity of our PTO. Students learned about light and sound energy through interactive and thought-provoking demonstrations. The equipment used was beyond anything that is used in the classroom and was able to enhance student learning in a very fun and entertaining way.
Fourth Graders Learn Social Studies Hands-On
Earlier this week, the fourth grade class went on a field trip to the Institute for American Indian Studies Museum and Research Center in Washington, CT. There, they were treated to an enriching program which introduced students to native american culture, including the types of shelters they lived in, outdoor games that they played and more! They also spent time in the Connecticut Room, where they learned from a Living Timeline, covering over 15,000 years ago up to the time of contact with Europeans.
