Welcome to the 2022-2023 School Year!
We want to thank you for choosing Roosevelt Charter Academy to educate your student. We
are a Title I school that has served our community for the past 26 years. As our mission
states, we strive to work rigorously with families to create high achieving, engaged,
accountable, respectful, and safe, life-long learners. Our dedicated staff achieve this goal by
following our vision of providing a cutting-edge model for education that values community,
culture, and diversity. Roosevelt's teachers are all licensed, highly qualified, and work to
creatively to implement the most up to date curricular resources. We extend learning for
our students through our engaging and project based academies that occur daily. These
academies range in topics from restaurant exploration, engineering, drum line, drama and
stage design, with a focus on math and reading. We also offer a variety of special classes
everyday that can include: Physical Education, Art, Library, Music, and STEM (Science,
Technology, Engineering, Math).

What to Expect at RCA
RCA school hours: 7:25-3:30 (Monday-Thursday) and 7:25-1:30 (Friday)
Student Drop Off: Students may not be dropped off before 7:20 a.m. The “Kiss N’ Go” is a one way street.
Please drive slowly and only park on the right hand side along the sidewalk area. The left hand side is for continual flow of traffic. Please do not stop and block traffic.
Student Pick Up: Monday through Thursday, students are released at 3:30 p.m. Every Friday, students are released at 1:30 p.m. Students may remain with teachers for 10 minutes after the dismissal bell. After the 10 minutes, all remaining students will be dropped off in the front office for contact with alternate numbers listed in the student’s profile (Please make sure your contact info is current).
RCA is a locked campus – with door-buzzer access ONLY. All visitors must sign in with an ID and receive a visitor pass before continuing to their classroom or destination.
Meals
Free Breakfast is served daily in the classroom at 7:25 a.m.
Free and Reduced lunch meals are available with a completed and approved application. A new application must be submitted each school year. Please send meals or meal money until you have received the results of your application. Results will be sent home with your child or mailed home by letter within 2 weeks. Automated lunch money account calls are made by District 11.
Dress Code
All students are required to follow the dress code Monday through Thursday. The student dress code policy includes clothing (long-sleeved or short-sleeved shirts, pants or shorts) in white, blue, black or tan/khaki. Friday is a casual day but students still need to be dressed in appropriate clothing. An “Oops” reminder or call home may be sent when your child is out of uniform.
Students First / School Accountability Committee
Our Students First / School Accountability Committee holds monthly meetings with school staff, parents, and community partners. This team meets to give updates and get feedback on school initiatives, collaborate on policies and procedures, and support in developing improvement plans for Roosevelt Charter Academy. We invite all parents to attend these monthly meetings! They will take place once a month on a Wednesday evening, at 5:00pm, at RCA. Our first meeting will be Wednesday, August 17th at 5:00pm.
Inclement Weather
In the event of inclement weather, please watch live or online any of the following major television stations: KOAA, channel 5 & 30, KKTV, channel 11, KRDO, channel 13 for any closure or delay to Colorado Springs District 11. If District 11 calls a E- Learning day due to weather, Roosevelt Charter Academy will not hold online classes.
